Koerperich Bookbinders is a finalist in the 8 Wonders of
Kansas because they are one of a very few binderies in the nation that still
meet or exceed Library Binding Institute specifications.
They are one of the few bookbinders that still bind books by sewing.
HISTORY
They are a small business in a small, rural town and have survived and
steadily grown over the past 40 years. They take great pride in the
quality of their work, which is why individuals and publishers from
coast to coast continue to send their book binding needs to this small
town in Sheridan County.
Richard and Sandra Koerperich started Koerperich Book
binders in 1969 in Selden. It is now a family business with two of his
sons, Chris and Don, also helping run the business. Richard worked in a
bindery in New Mexico for his uncle for several years before returning
to Kansas to start his own business.
USE OF SEWING MACHINES;
QUALITY OF MATERIALS
They use sewing machines to assure a long lasting and
durable book. The pages are actually sewn together instead of glued, a
method preferred by most binderies. Their binding process will meet or
exceed all LBI and ALA specs.
They use high-grade buckram cloth covers on all orders.
They stock all buckram colors as well as many skivertex prints and
imitation leathers. They also offer leather binding of Bibles and
special books. All books are given a hard cover with hot foil stamping.
Gold is the most popular stamping color, but they also offer stamping in
many other colors.
SPECIALIZE IN SHORT RUNS
Koerperich is a small bookbindery specializing in short
run productions. They are devoted to customer satisfaction and will
strive to meet all needs. They are willing to do one book repair, bind
